Are the criteria for donating blood too restrictive?

France has decided to gradually open up blood donation to homosexuals. Homosexuals had been excluded for life from donating blood in many countries, when AIDS began to appear. They are not the only ones who cannot donate blood. The criteria are too restrictive, according to some specialists.
