Early melting of alpine snow causes concern

In the upper reaches of the Swiss Alps, the snow is disappearing earlier and earlier in the year. If global warming continues at this rate, the snow between 200 and 2,500 meters will melt a month earlier than it does today by the end of the century. This date plays a key role in the evolution of plants during the short vegetation period.
