For the 3rd year running, real wages fell in Switzerland in 2023, despite a rise in nominal wages. This decline in purchasing power raises questions, in a country as wealthy as Switzerland. With work and career no longer necessarily the essential ingredients of a successful life for new generations, is the value of work at half-mast? And if so, how far can income from work continue to finance the social state?
