A new way to determine the age of blood traces at a crime scene

A study published by the University of Zurich in the specialist journal "Drug Testing and Analysis" highlights a new method for detecting the age of blood traces at a crime scene. A small molecule with a curious name, phenlylalanylalanine, produced during the breakdown of blood proteins, is said to increase over time in the traces of physiological fluid investigated.
