Such was the case of Cécile Biéle-Butticaz (1884-1966), Switzerland's first female engineer. In 1907, the Genevan opened an office for women engineers, which she left to work with her husband. After the birth of her children, this active Protestant turned to teaching, popularizing science and social commitment.
