What's changed in 10 years: wokism, a new passion

The word "woke" originated in the United States. It means "awake" to social injustice. But wokism is todayʹmost often used to qualify in a negative way a movement or people who say they are fighting for more equality, on issues of gender, race or class. How has wokism become so central to public debate in just a few years?
