Why is cocaine such a hit?

Twenty-two kg of cocaine are sold every day in Switzerland. Of the fifteen European cities with the highest cocaine consumption per capita, five are Swiss: Zurich, Basel, Geneva, St. Gallen and Bern. Consumption in Europe and Switzerland has more than doubled in the last fifteen years. How can we explain this phenomenon?
