The electricity consumed at night is loaded with CO2 from German coal

German power imports are taking a heavy toll on the carbon footprint of Switzerland's consumption mix, according to a study by smart living lab. The CO2 load can reach 400 grams per kilowatt-hour at night or at certain times of the afternoon.
