Mobility and pedestrian safety

The Association transports et environnement (ATE) recommends that parents walk their children to school. The aim: to educate them and make them aware of pedestrian safety. How important is pedestrian safety when creating a new sidewalk or pedestrian zone? Has street furniture designed for pedestrians evolved in favor of greater safety? Does the behavior of pedestrians have any influence on the dangers that may arise?
