Classification of shell amoebae

Twenty years! That's how long it took Professor Edward Mitchell and his team at the University of Neuchâtel's Soil Biodiversity Laboratory to update the classification of one of the main families of shell amoebae, comprising around a hundred species. The last classification dated back to 1936. Why is this so important?
