Syngenta refuses to sell out to Monsanto

American agrochemical giant Monsanto wants to take over its Basel-based competitor Syngenta. But Syngenta's board of directors is opposed to the takeover. Boards of directors seem to have few weapons at their disposal to thwart unwanted takeover bids.
